新豊橋 - part V - The Randomness Continues

Dear Followers of the Cult of Dorothy

Well I guess this is just to my three (not four yet, pogoniate) treasured followers.

This is the last of my collected photos and two short videos. Making videos is actually kind of fun. That's cool. I'm only about 20 years behind modern technology.

So this is definitely a miscellany, melange if you will, of photos - both camera and keitai of me wandering around 新豊橋 (New Toyohashi) and thinking 'oooh, I'll take a picture of that'.

Hahaha, Fuck You, eh ?  This coolness is a couple of minutes up the road and it makes me laugh every time I see it.

The source of the ever-so-slightly vexed waters in the park a few minutes from my yard.

Street shot containing familiar elements. To give you a sense of perspective and location, the trees contain the park.

I love this shit. Random rocks in the street. This street is called Hirokoji dori ('Hiro' as in スーパーヒーローです。- "Super Hero desu."), and is easily the coolest street in Toyohashi. I've got quite a few photos here. It is adorned with wicked shops, street art, convenience stores and hyaku-en shops.

See above... but the right side.

Random rocks on the opposite side of the street. Tee hee hee... random rocks... it most certainly fucking does :D.

Random statue on Hirokoji dori. See earlier comments regarding statues.

More random rocks on Hirokoji dori.

More random statue art on Hirokoji dori. I thought it was a man (or druid) about to worship a mushroom first, but it's so totally a tree... and that makes far more sense really.

Still on Hirokoji dori. This is like, art. But it like, tells you the time. Like, totally cool.

Old style structure on the other side of the street near the park. Also near the サンヨネ (sanyone - supermarket).

Old style architecture adjacent to the modernity that is glass and steel. You get lots of this sort of juxtaposition in Nihon (日本 - Japan), and it's quite jarring. Moreso than say the medieval architecture of Cambridge and London. Not jarring in a bad way, mind you. Just more noticeable.

The rest now are just a couple of keitai shots. I don't always take the camera with me (though I really should - one never quite knows what will happen), but I always have the keitai. So apologies once again for inconsistency of pics.

The peculiar metal structure to which I have previously alluded. Very close to me yard and to our local. I like the sky in the background.

Just an illustrative device to show you just how thankfully difficult it is to get lost around here. I bear such ambivalence to those things.

Now I believed I mentioned something about videos, vending machines and fags in the street...?

Walking down the street you should be oh so familiar with now. So many vending machines, but this fag machine is about 2 mins up the road, just before Fukui and the park.

And lo and behold. Fags. Lots of lovely fags. Lovely, lovely fags. Taspo cards are sweeeet. I'm not sure if they're issued to gaijin, but if they are, I'm so fucking getting one, man. Well all convenience stores are 24hour here, so it's not super-necessary, but the freedom is good. I mean for now, I just use Maki's if I need to.

Now as much as I would love to claim the credit for these next shots, I really can't. My brother took them from his office and they are amazing. They really capture well the beauty of this place, so I really want to include them in the 新豊橋 collection

Spectacular Toyohashi twilight. The fucker is so much better at taking pictures than I am. But it's all good coz we all benefit.  The more eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted the background picture  :D

Toyohashi sunset.... Such a wonderful pallette of colours. It really does look like that here, man. No wizardry, witchery or photoshop involved !!

Well I've finally reached the end of getting all the stuff up. What a fucking two day onslaught it's been. Hope you've enjoyed it all thus far. Now I can just post as-and-when, y'know.

Watch this space for... who the fuck knows ??

  4. That you can buy them in bars for the same price and quantity as in shops and vending machines is probably my favourite aspect about it all.
And the proprietor of your local haunt will always have a couple of decks of your brand behind the bar. Mmm... Lucky Strikes...
