新豊橋 - part IV - Adventure to the Dry Cleaners

Hark, minions of the Blight and other members

So today I had to go on a right proper adventure. I have an interview at an English school in Nagoya on Wednesday oO, so I needed to take my suit to a dry cleaners. The sister found one in a phone book, spoke to the bloke and sent me on my merry way with a map on the iPod. I ♥ technology. This was a nice and unexpected addition to the 新豊橋 collection.

So what follows now is randomness captured on my way to and from the dry cleaners, on my own, to somewhere pretty far from where I've been before.
Hehehe, the old dude and the old bird in the shop had no English but was so fucking impressed when I wrote my name in katakana...To be absolutely fair though, I've been able to write my name in katakana for years now. Thank you meishi-desu.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy my Adventure to the Dry Cleaners. Commentary comes as standard.

Street shot. Partly for the more pogonically inclined amongst you. But partly because of the name in the background.

One of the myriad and über-ubiquitous vending machines that adorn all the streets. This one (as many are) is for hot and cold drinks. And corn soup, by the looks of it. One rather has a penchant for buying a lovely hot can of coffee for hyaku-nijū-en (120¥), standing by an ashtray and having a quick fag...

...such as this one.

Another street shot for the wretched pogoniate. However, the tallest building in the top left-hand corner is the building where my brother works.

The name in the background (as in the above shot), which is a lot clearer now. With just a hint of the Engrish oeuvre, I pissed my self at this... "Attractive Company MEIHO or (Me' Ho). Bah. I thought it was funny.

Aaahh, crossing over a main road on a fairly regular bridge. Elevated heights mean better pictures. Here we have some obligatory mountains.

Same as above but different direction.

Why the buggery bollocks would I have taken a shot of some fucking railway tracks I hear you wonder. Well, it is an explanatory shot. @Alex (Alex C., not you, dear Rex), the Shinkansen (新幹線 - bullet train), on account of its awesomeness and out of sheer practicality must have its own special track. This shot is bog-standard, lameline rail tracks. You are so fucking lucky you know, because of:

Shinkansen hooning past at several hundred miles an hour !!  I'm amazed you can make it out. It's fucking incredible to behold you know. It is so unbelievably long and it moves so unbelievably fast.

Oh the skills of this shot. After I managed to grab the above shot, another bad boy came hooning in the opposite direction. I can't believe I managed to get a shot of the front !!  Raaaah !!

See above Re: skills, shots and Shinkansen.

Ah this is some nice, low-level Engrish. Check out the legendary grammar.

Ahhhh. On my way back from the dry cleaners I had to pass through Toyohashi station. This is just pure, unadulterated AWESOME.

All the horizon I could get, also from the same window in Toyohashi station.

Another cool street shot. Thought I'd incorporate cool random structure with lovely writing on it too.

This one rather speaks for itself I think.

@Alex. Please pass this on to Georgie. This is outside the place, but still not returned. It's hard to judge just how much there is to it from this shot.

Quality street shottage.

More cool and random statues... I'm sensing there may be another montage in the making...

Street.

More random statues. @Alex: look it's two of your favourite things, come together in metallurgic art.

Some more street.

Random statuage. Do try for now to ignore the shop name in the background... at least until:

@Tu. Nuff said.

Street.

A park near my house. This is a 'bridge' ("bridge" maybe overselling it slightly) over ever-so-slightly vexed waters.

Same park as above, but with beardy's erotic monstrosity in the background. I was trying to juxtapose the loveliness of the park with the utter repugnance that is that cancerous abomination.

Not far from said montrosity is what I like to think of as its French little brother. Highly inappropriate beardy comment not only anticipated, but also highly welcomed. The lighting effect of me being in shadow and darkness while it was illuminated by the setting sun could not be passed up.

Same as above but with less zoom.

More of my awesome street. Which reminds me, I really must find out its name at some point...

I apologise for the quality of some of these shots. It's kind of tough for me to take a great picture because of my constant tremor. It is literally impossible for me to keep my hands still as a result of the more... slightly-less-than-salubrious (shall we say) exploits of my teenage years and early twenties.

And so concludes my adventure to the dry cleaners.

Oh in other news, my taste for grape Fanta has now officially become a 'problem'. Fucking vending machines and hyaku-en shops...

Watch this space for yet more random shit...
