Good afternoon blessed folks
Your numbers are growing steadily. This is pleasing. If you know of people who read this shit and haven't joined up yet, do prod them incessantly until they buckle under peer pressure. Thanks, you're a peach. x
So here are some pics I grabbed while out yesterday as it got progressively darker.
The theme of these pics appear to buildings and lights. But there is a little bit more of Hirokoji dori.
I've snapped this building before... the glass and steel. But this from the other side is kind of cool.
Same as above but with a slight change on the old perspective.
And from a bit of distance. Observe the contrast of old and new. Of glass/steel and of mortar. Of cars and of trees.
I have no idea why I took this one as well... probably because of the bike.
More architecture and modern/oldskool juxtaposition.
Same as above but different angle.
More cool architecture.
Not entirely sure why I took this either... maybe because the rocks look like a toilet that is being watched over by a tree.
Architecture.
And I thought I'd wander down one of the dodgy streets in the day on my way to Hirokoji dori. See what it's like in the day like. Hopefully this will go some way to dispel some trepidation... Look lovely Tamsy, it's not so bad in the day !! It seems kind of cool. I will try and muster the courage to wander down it at night at one point... just to see. Plus this is like a fraction of what it's like in Shibuya...
Not so bad during the day... but you still get these old fucking chiefs doing oh-so much to get you to come and spend money on purchasing a bout of the clap. I suspect.
Back to Hirokoji dori. It is cool. And I never noticed this metal art before. It's cool. It kind of implies pain but with an umnistakable order to it.
A view down Hirokoji dori.
Heh.
Random rock art and art on Hirokoji dori.
Ah Píndy... I wanted to go back to The Mexico to get high-res pics of the cool shit in the window, but alas it was closed. However one is rather treated to this funky graf on one of the shutters. I miss good graf. One of my favourite places in London is on Curtain Road by the Horse & Groom where the graf changed constantly. This was a nice reminder of that.
The graf on the other shutter of El Mehico.
Like an arcade-ish thing on Hirokoji dori.
Standing outside my brother's building (right by the station) and taking in some lights of Toyohashi.
Same as above but a bit to the right.
I thought I'd get another.
Cocola Front - my brother's building. Yes, that really is Starbucks. Vile. But homely.
Same as above.
Hahahah, I think these are for fire engines, but I ain't sure... cool though. And random.
Just to the right of the ground of Cocola Front.
Currently there's loads of art outside New Toyohashi station. This is horse against wood.
But the horse is of wood too. So it's like wood against horse against wood.
More art in the same place.
Wood against wood against floor.
Wood against floor. And my shadow against wood against floor, 'twould appear.
More wood.
Ah the lighting on this wood worked out so much better.
It's a little mini-nhorse. That's nhorse. It's horse but with a silent 'n'.
More art. And the left flank of my brother.
Ah this little dude is cool. He's the Toyohashi city mascot and he was on the floor. Like a lot of art is here.
In loads of colours !!
Random lights and random brother.
More random lights.
Yes, it appears that yesterday was a day of art. I went to a gallery with Maki in the afternoon which is just up the road from here. The exhibition was by this cool bloke who creates pictures by carving black card and superimposing it onto white, creating a sillhouette effect. 'Twas most excellent. Seriously excellent. I brought one. Oops. I don't usually buy art. I'll post a pic of it when I collect it on Sunday...

Loving the photos Lee..especially the tree overlooking the rocks that look like a toilet, very cool! I'm happier to see you wandering around during the day-but, if you do feel the need to wander at night, please give me 3 rings so I know you're home safely :) Much love x
ReplyDeleteCool, El Mehijo by day, nice grafs by night. I like it! Also, loving pics, Lee. :D
